On 21 June Samaritans and University of Exeter, on behalf of the government published the first nationwide review of suicide prevention planning within local authorities in England. Its findings include:
- Almost all local authorities have established a suicide prevention plan and multi-agency group

- 92{08402cc4e02dcaebae1e086294c932f9e8c0e4836b71c17abd5ce9cddb0123b9} of plans include children and young people, and 80{08402cc4e02dcaebae1e086294c932f9e8c0e4836b71c17abd5ce9cddb0123b9} are delivering on it
- 97{08402cc4e02dcaebae1e086294c932f9e8c0e4836b71c17abd5ce9cddb0123b9} of plans include bereavement support, and 71{08402cc4e02dcaebae1e086294c932f9e8c0e4836b71c17abd5ce9cddb0123b9} are delivering on it
- 92{08402cc4e02dcaebae1e086294c932f9e8c0e4836b71c17abd5ce9cddb0123b9} of plans include preventing self-harm, and 55{08402cc4e02dcaebae1e086294c932f9e8c0e4836b71c17abd5ce9cddb0123b9} are delivering on it
Key recommendations in the report include:
- Encouraging local authorities to work together to achieve economies of scale
- Supporting the sharing of good practice to save time and money being spent ‘reinventing the wheel
- Supporting local authorities to prioritise their work, considering stretched resources, and moving in to the delivery stage
