Roadshows are a great way to get into our communities and raise awareness of help that is available to them. Football supporters are a demographic for targeted awareness and support, so what better way of reaching out to them, than organising a roadshow event on their own turf? (literally in this case) Samaritans and West Midlands Trains joined forces to arrange a roadshow event, which took place at Tamworth Football Club on 22/02/2025 – North West & Central Samaritans Regional Development Lead was joined by Tamworth Samaritans, Tamworth Football Club Mental Health and Wellbeing, West Midlands Trains representatives, and St Johns Ambulance. Volunteers on the day spoke with 306 people, and also had 5 emotional support conversations.
Additional conversations are taking place through the Samaritans Regional Development Lead and West Midlands Trains with Tamworth Football Club to install a Samaritans Awareness Board at the CR MOT Centre Community Stadium at The Lamb Football Ground.
