On Thursday 11th July, Network Rail, Greater Anglia and Samaritans held a joint engagement day along the West Anglia route.
The event was a ‘hop on hop off’ style, which saw engagement take place on-board services between Bishops Stortford and Broxbourne. Bags were created which contained signposting materials for Samaritans, Hub of Hope, pens, stress balls and Thomas the Tank Engine activity packs for younger passengers. 60 bags were handed out on services, as well as at stations, local businesses and to taxi drivers. Passengers were pleased to see colleagues out, and grateful to receive information about support as well as some freebies.
The day ended with an event during the evening peak at Bishops Stortford, in conjunction with Community Pastors, Land Sheriffs and Social Prescribers. Engagement throughout the event was positive and provided an opportunity to talk to staff and passengers about the various avenues of support, both local and national. Many passengers shared their personal experiences, or concerns for loved ones – and were appreciative of the presence on the day to get more information about how they can support friends and family.
