Get the kettle on, as 18th January marks the return of Brew Monday! Samaritans annual campaign, supported by Network Rail and the wider rail industry, that aims to turn the most difficult day of the year on its head by harnessing the uplifting power of a good brew.
Brew Monday will look a little different in 2021. In a bid to beat the winter blues, and after a challenging year for all, the industry is encouraging people to take five and reach out to someone for a virtual cuppa and a chat.
To officially launch the event this year the award-winning author and illustrator Charlie Mackesy on board. Best known for his acclaimed book The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, Charlie will be creating a ‘Brew Monday’ inspired illustration which will appear on digital screens across Network Rail stations today, including London Waterloo’s big screen. Charlie has penned a special message in the donated illustration which features the Mole asking a slice of cake, “can I share you with a friend?”.
Whilst we can’t physically gather in stations this year, why not spread the Brew Monday warmth, by hosting your own virtual tea party with friends, family members or colleagues. You can share photos with your cuppa on social media with #BrewMonday
Now more than ever, having a cup of tea is more than a drink – it’s about reaching out, checking in and staying connected.
