The Government has announced plans to roll out further support services on the NHS across England for individuals who have been affected by suicide.
Statistics show that 9{08402cc4e02dcaebae1e086294c932f9e8c0e4836b71c17abd5ce9cddb0123b9} of people affected by suicide will also attempt to take their own life and 8{08402cc4e02dcaebae1e086294c932f9e8c0e4836b71c17abd5ce9cddb0123b9} will drop out of work.
Those who have lost someone close to them due to suicide will benefit from dedicated personalised bereavement care, that will provide practical and emotional support in the days and months following a death.
Ten areas are initially to benefit from the £1,082,000 fund, with support raging from one-to-one sessions with trained volunteers or counsellors, group support, or signposting to specialist mental health services.
The tailored help will be implemented in every region across the country by 2023 to 2024, as part of a commitment set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.
