On 10th October 2024, World Mental Health Day was marked by engagement events at Ealing Broadway, Southall and Liverpool Street stations, focused on raising awareness about mental health in the workplace.
The events, supported by various local organisations, aimed to provide information and foster community discussions around mental health and wellbeing. At Ealing Broadway Station, over 250 passengers engaged with organisations including Samaritans, Cape, EACH Counselling, Let’s Go Southall, Land Sheriffs and the NHS West London Trust. The atmosphere was described as empowering, with a strong sense of unity among the participating groups. Attendees noted that the setup helped commuters feel more comfortable engaging with the stalls, which provided valuable mental health resources.
Let’s Go Southall took a proactive approach, leading a cycling group from Ealing Broadway to Southall to mark the day. They also reported significant engagement with residents, including those interested in joining their cycling clubs. The feedback suggested that hosting similar events in the winter months, when mental health issues often spike, would be beneficial.
At Liverpool Street Station, over 350 commuters engaged with representatives from organisations including MIND, Greater Anglia, Missing People, TfL, Arrival Rail, Network Rail, Land Sheriffs and Missing People. The event prompted many questions from the public, ranging from how to support loved ones with mental health conditions to enquiries about services in other areas. The feedback was positive, with several people expressing appreciation for the availability of mental health information.
