On 17 June Prime Minister Theresa May announced a package of measures related to improving mental health prevention. On suicide prevention specifically, this included:

• Almost £600k funding for a sector-led Improvement programme to sup-port local authorities to strengthen their suicide prevention plans
• Encouraging all NHS staff to complete Zero Suicide Alliance suicide prevention training
• Support for school mental health leads so they can help children struggling with self-harm and risk of suicide
