On 17 July, ITV News aired their latest Granada piece on ‘Suicide: an ITV News investigation’, which focuses on suicides in the North West.
361 men, women and children are thought to have taken their own lives in the North West so far this year.
The region has one the highest suicide rates in the country and some of the longest waiting times for mental health treatment on the NHS.
The 30 minutes piece looks broadly at suicides in the North West, with a short feature on rail suicide, interventions and mentions the rail industry’s Small Talk Saves Live campaign, as well as Samaritans.
During the creation, Samaritans were approached for guidance as well the rail industry being contacted.
