This year, Volunteers’ Week is about celebrating people who give up their time to help others.
During the week, events and celebrations will take place across the country, saying thank you to volunteers, by recognising their invaluable and diverse contributions. Volunteers Week is also the perfect chance to support the rail industry’s Million Hour Challenge (MHC). Over the next five years, MHC aims to bring the rail industry together to volunteer one million hours to help Samaritans achieve their vision, that fewer people die by suicide.
It’s open to everyone in the industry and staff are invited to get involved by visiting the website at https://millionhourchallenge.com/ to sign up.
There are lots of ways you can support MHC, from completing Samaritans online learning modules, to volunteering to promote the Small Talk Saves Lives campaign, and at Network Rail you can use up to five days volunteer leave per year, to support any UK registered charity.
You can also keep up to date with MHC by following their twitter.
